About HEFFA

The Higher Educational Facilities Financing Authority (HEFFA), formed in 2001, is a public body corporate and politic and a component unit of the state of Florida organized and existing under the provisions of Chapter 243, Section 53 of the Florida Statutes. HEFFA is a state-wide tax exempt bond conduit specifically chartered for non-profit institutions of higher education that are domiciled in Florida and that are accredited by the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges. HEFFA is authorized and empowered to sell and issue bonds for the purpose of, among other things, assisting private institutions of higher education (Universities) in constructing, financing, and refinancing projects.
